Have the attorneys associated with the Education Law Center provide you or your group with one of their standard or customized seminars on the legal issues facing parents and educators.

Parents - The ELC seminars provide you with an understanding of the laws and regulations that effect your child's daily school life. A good understanding of the requirements the law places on school districts is an essential tool needed to be an effective advocate for your child.

Non-profit Groups - An ELC seminar can be created that addresses both the general information your members need to know regarding education law and regulations, and at the specific information applicable to your group's particular area of interest.

Teachers or administrators - An ELC seminar will provide you with a better understanding of the laws applicable to your professional life. An ELC seminar is unique in that it is presented by attorneys who regularly represent students and parents and who teach education law to advanced degree candidates. Learning the requirements of the law and how a parent views its application can help a staff easily avoid costly disputes and deteriorated relationships.

Standard Seminars - The seminars last from one to eight hours, in one to one and half hour blocks, with time for questions and answers. Each attendee receives a seminar manual and participates in a question and answer session. Recent topics have included: discipline of special needs students, due process, functional behavior assessment, ADD/ADHD under §504 and IDEA, student records, prior written notice, anatomy of a manifestation determination, and student and staff rights under the 1st amendment.
